Observational drawing using pen & watercolour pencil is a fantastic skill an artist can use in their repertoire. Whether it’s painting, sketching or modelling, the ability to draw inspiration from what you have around you is a huge foundation across many areas of art. In this workshop, you’ll be using fine-line pen rather than pencil to become more direct, decisive and in flow when creating drawings from observation. After a monochromatic drawing with strong contrasts is created, you’ll use watercolour pencil to add colour to enhance and bring it to life. This workshop will not only teach you how to use both fine-line pen and watercolour pencil effectively, understanding shading and mark making, but also how to develop your observational skills and learn how to translate these observations onto paper, refining hand and eye coordination, becoming more decisive and direct in your approach to drawing, and also to be creative in your compositions.
