My first observational drawing workshop 'An introduction to Observational Drawing' was held last Wednesday at Tindalls Art & Graphics in Cambridge. During the first part of this workshop, I introduced my students to one of my favourite mediums: fine-line pen, and taught them how to use this medium effectively focussing on shading and mark making. I have found personally that using fine-line pen in observational drawing rather t...

My first drawing workshop 'Introduction to Drawing Techniques' was held last Saturday at Tindalls Art & Graphics in Cambridge. Through this workshop, I taught my students how to create an accurate artistic representation of a photograph through learning simple drawing techniques in graphite and coloured pencils. The main lessons they covered were drawing outlines that are mathematically accurate, understanding tonality, learning...

This month, I finally received the remainder of the payment for 'Waves of Transformation', initially completed in the summer of 2012 and then later refurbished in the winter of 2019, before safely packaging it and sending it to it's new owner. This painting has belonged to a series of paintings that have held most meaning and therefore also most value to me. In this post, I finally reveal to you, the true, much more personal sto...

The mission behind the workshop 'Introduction to Oil Painting' last Saturday at Tindalls Arts & Graphics was to offer a platform through which any aspiring artists could explore the use of oil paint as a medium self expression. In the workshop, I taught students how to create vivid abstract oil paintings inspired by their thoughts and feelings, discovering the language of colour and texture in the process. We explored colour the...

The Universal Intelligence, 2019. Oil on canvas. 121 x 76.2 cm. I finally added the finishing touches that I always intended to add since having to take a break from this painting in 2015 (leaving it in a not quite finished state). I feel like the painting has much more life now. I am proud to have submitted it for an art competition. Now I just need to polish a few details!

I received a commission to do an A4 family portrait for a birthday gift. I used watercolour and ink pencils on paper and gave the portrait a rose-tinted vintage vibe. (See the image below). It was a bit of a challenge to complete in the given time frame, as there were 5 unique faces to draw, but I got there in the end. Proud of the result, I mounted the drawing and packaged it professionally and securely before posting it to my...

I was commissioned to make a hand drawn illustration for an article on 'Sheherazade speaks of Science'. 'Sheherazade speaks of Science' is an online blog where scientists who champion equality share articles written in the form of engaging stories that help us become more acquainted with a diverse range of scientific theories and principles. This particular article, written by Yara el Murr, I made an illustration for speaks abou...

I was again asked by Marion Curtis, a jeweller and fellow team member of the Cambridge Open Studios Management Committee, to produce a flyer for her and her team of artists living within the Coleridge area of Cambridge for this year's July Open Studios. Last year, the design I created stemmed from the original flyer that was produced by another artist in 2017. With twice the number of artists wanting to partake in the Coleridge...
